Paper
Paper is a renewable material, usually manufactured from wood pulp. Different types of paper will have different environmental impacts.
- Recycled paper uses less energy to manufacture and conserves renewable resources (i.e. trees).
- Papers are often coated with synthetic chemicals, or dyed with synthetic dyes: avoiding these can help the environment and reduce your carbon footprint.
- Paper can be manufactured from other plant and cellulose-based material. This can be better for the environment because some plants grow more quickly and can be renewed more easily than trees. Examples vary from hemp and cotton, to paper made from sheep's poo!
