NNFCC's Lucy Hopwood wins Young Consultant of the Year award

PRESS RELEASE. York, UK - 18 January 2012. NNFCC's Head of Biomass and Biogas, Lucy Hopwood, has won this years British Institute of Agricultural Consultants (BIAC) Young Consultant of the Year award in recognition of her work on anaerobic digestion.

Lucy HopwoodThe prestigious annual award is given to young consultants who have demonstrated excellence in agricultural consultancy. This year's award was presented to Lucy Hopwood for her farm-scale anaerobic digestion plant efficiency report for the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) and her wider involvement in the industry.

Speaking at the award ceremony in London she said: "It's a great honour to be awarded the title of BIAC's Young Consultant of the Year 2011 and I am delighted that my contribution, passion and commitment to the AD industry has been recognised. The entries were hugely diverse but for once AD came out on top...let's hope it's a sign of things to come in 2012."

The NNFCC offer a wide range of professional consultancy services across the biorenewables sector and we are pleased that our hard work and commitment has been recognised by such a well respected organisation.

The BIAC is a professional organisation whose members provide advice to farmers, rural businesses and those who care for our environment and countryside; formed in 1957 the organisation has grown to become an influential advisor to rural businesses.

On announcing the winner the BIAC said: "[We] received a record response to the 2011 Young Consultant of the Year Competition. All entries were of a very high standard, covering a wide range of subjects which made the job of the judges to pick the finalists and the winner a very difficult and impossible one."

This years competition was sponsored by Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank.
