2022 promises to be a good year for biobased plastics as international institutions and leading industrial stakeholders are promoting and increasing the production of biobased alternatives to conventional fossil-derived plastics. Last month, the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) published a report assessing the sustainability of agricultural plastic products. Through its study, the FAO concluded that soil-biodegradable biobased plastics were of significant benefit to the environment, both through the reduction of use of fossil resources, and via the reduction of residual plastic pollution in soils...
