Foreword
We’ve discussed in the past that one of the most
important factors that boosts the development and success of biobased products
is public engagement. As such, when opportunities arise for biobased products
to be showcased in very high-profile, we always take an interest. Late last
year it was announced that the official match ball at this summer’s football
world cup would be made from biobased synthetic rubber, which had been chosen
not because it was biobased, but for its superior performance, which was an
excellent demonstration that biobased products aren’t necessarily just
like-for-like equivalents, but can offer better alternatives to their fossil-based
counterparts. This month there comes another story showcasing how football can
be used to highlight sustainability........
