How to tackle the pollution caused by irresponsible disposal of plastic packaging is one most hotly debated topics across plastic and sustainability circles. While it’s widely agreed that we should reduce the use of plastic packaging this can’t be at the expense of the product the packaging protects. Where packaging is needed, we must work towards making it as sustainable as possible, for example the use of renewable raw materials allows a move away from the use of environmentally damaging fossil fuels while recognising that the biobased products we produce must be integrated into an effective recovery system, to ensure that where ever possible plastics are recycled.
