Foreword
Last year saw the beginning of
the Covid-19 crisis which brough the whole of the transport sector to a halt
for several months. As a result, fossil-based gasoline and diesel demand
dropped globally by about 90,000 barrels a day compared to 2019. The reduction
in oil-based fuel consumption in turn led to a drop in biofuel consumption –
for the first time in two decades – as most commercial fuel blends now require
a share of biofuel to be added. More particularly, US and Brazil ethanol along
with European diesel took the biggest hit.
As we begin this new
year, we look to the future...
