Foreword
As policies around the world increasingly promote the
incorporation of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) into national blending
mandates, industrial leaders are rallying to push the SAF sector in the right
direction. More partnerships and collaborations are being established, and
despite the difficulties encountered in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, the
aviation sector is accelerating its transition towards a more sustainable
future.
Demand for SAF is on the rise, and supply is there to
fill in the gap. Latvian airline airBaltic increased its use of SAF by 20%
between 2020 and 2021. This was made possible through their collaboration with
energy supplier giant Neste, who provides airBaltic with its own MY Sustainable
Aviation Fuel™. Last month, airBaltic performed a flight with a blend of 37%
SAF, marking the highest proportion of SAF in an airBaltic flight to date...
