Foreword
Known and used for millennia, predominantly for the
manufacturing of fibres, hemp seemed to have fallen out of grace for several
decades until recently, with production, demand and investments remaining low.
The last few years have seen an unprecedented revival for hemp, with a range of
hemp-derived products being developed across a wide spectrum of industrial
sectors. In December 2020, the United Nations’ Commissions for Narcotic Drugs
agreed to remove medicinal cannabis from a category of dangerous drugs, making
hemp an even more attractive (and safer) investment for industrial
stakeholders.
Hemp’s ever-growing popularity is leading industrial stakeholders to
expand their business in order to ramp up production and meet the rising demand
