Organic and naturally derived extracts and products are often marketed as having gentle, soft, and calming effects for babies, thus avoiding skin irritation, whilst having increased efficacy over their synthetic, chemical-based equivalents. Hence, a transition towards biobased baby products is possible, especially in areas like baby wipes, whose market size in 2019 was around £3.7 billion, according to Grand View Research. Emerging materials in this field often incorporate lyocell fibres, a form of rayon, which are generally derived from birch and oak tree wood pulp. Lyocell can be utilised as a silk, polyester, or cotton alternative.
