Foreword
Some positive news on the
aviation front – carbon emissions per passenger have declined by over 50% since
1990. However, this is not only attributed to the increasing use of biofuels,
but also the improvements in operational efficiencies, which come with new and
more efficient aircrafts. Carbon offsetting too is contributing. Especially as
public perception on the aviation industry and its contributions towards carbon
emissions shifts, both individuals and industry are taking steps to ‘offset’
their impact. The Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International
Aviation (CORSIA) is to ensure carbon-neutral growth on international flights
from 2020, likely to result in a large decrease in carbon emissions per
passenger – something else to look forward to in the New Year! Gevo have been
keeping busy lately, featuring twice this month in our News Review. Gevo are
