Foreword
Renewable (or advanced) methanol is produced from sustainable sources,
such as biomass or carbon dioxide and hydrogen produced from electricity. Its
proven efficiency as a transport fuel, along with the greenhouse gases
emissions savings it is associated with, have made it an attractive investment
and an instrumental tool for the decarbonisation of the world economy.
GIDARA Energy is opening its first advanced
biofuels facility in Amsterdam. Called Advanced Methanol Amsterdam (AMA), the
facility will convert non-recyclable waste into advanced methanol, which will
then be used for fuel blending. This will be counted towards REDII’s emissions
reductions targets and biofuels incorporation quotas. GIDARA will be using the
commercially proven HTW® biomass gasification technology to convert the
feedstocks into methanol, and aim to reach near-zero greenhouse gas emissions
by keeping waste to a minimum across the entire value chain...
