Foreword

Sporting events often have an incredibly social and economic impact on society, at a local and international scale. In recent years, the environmental impact of the sporting industry, notably through the mass production of equipment and infrastructure, has occupied a prominent place on international media platforms. The sporting industry is attempting to tackle these environmental issues which is leading to a number of biobased products recently making their way into high-tech equipment for athletes at the highest level, as well as in everyday sport attire for beginners and casual joggers and gymgoers.
