Over the longer term, gas prices are forecast to ease throughout 2023, as domestic production is ramped up to meet the current demand.

In the UK, policies have been introduced to reduce the reliance of the domestic heat market on fossil fuels, primarily to decarbonise the sector.  One of the policies is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) which has encouraged a transition towards air source heat pumps (ASHP), ground source heat pumps (GSHP), or biomass boilers, through the award of grants for the installation of equipment.
