Foreword
We begin with two giants of the
biomass power sector. Both have been leading the charge for large-scale
bioenergy in their respective countries, converting their existing power
stations to run on wood pellets, or by co-firing; they are separated by just
under 400 miles of the North Sea. We are, of course, referring to Drax here in
the UK, and DONG over in Denmark. While they may have a lot in common, this
month their stories contrast quite significantly.
