A multinational chemical company came
to us for insight on the potential market for a new bio-based product. They had
developed a plant based alternative to a popular health supplement, normally
derived from unsustainable feedstocks, and wanted to know if there was a market
for it.
To assess market potential of the new
product, we analysed global markets, feedstock availability and specific
requirements, processing technologies and the economics associated
with all sources of production.
Regulatory and sustainability issues
related to feedstock provision were then evaluated, to assess the green
credentials of the product compared to alternatives. Finally the scale
and feasibility of production were assessed.
We provided a detailed market report
to support the company’s assessment of the potential to start production from
renewable sources, to de-risk the development of the new product.
