Foreword
A successful transition from
non-renewable energy to the various forms of bioenergy can largely depend on
whether the appropriate infrastructure is also in place. Without the
infrastructure needed and the investment that goes with it, perhaps much of the
research done on progressing the bioenergy sector is somewhat in vain. As an
example, how much use can biomethane as a transport fuel be, if there is no
straightforward way for it to be accessed by the public? Luckily, in this
particular scenario, the UK is seeing some development. Two new biomethane
refuelling stations are to be opened this year – one will be in the North West
of England and the other in the Midlands, taking the UK’s total up to six. There is more news this month of new bioenergy
facilities opening. The Glasgow Recycling and Renewable Energy Centre (GRREC)
has been just been opened. This project hopes to deliver.........
